Show UTOUIAH Blevins Gallagher Tennis GOODELL (CAPT.) If this review of work of the Tennis team had been written and handed in to the editor on time, the writer would have probably presented a rather pessimistic perspective of the season's possibilities. Now, it is with joyful surprise that a report of a victory over the Cougars is submited. The conquest of the Loganites was rather expected, but it deemed very unwise at an early prediction, to hope for victory over such stars as Lee Buttle, Max Mangum, and the Dixon brothers of the southern school. As is noted from the results of the meets, Utah won every match from the Aggies with the exception of one, and certainly Lund Johnson was not expected to overcome Utah's dimunutive star, Mel Gallacher. Against Young the local raquet weilders won three out of five matches, and only established supremacy after several close and thrilling matches. The Provo fans were treated to some rare tennis. Especially was the work of the doubles combinations effective, for Gallacher and Blevins, as well as Irvine and Goodell registered victories. Coach Parmalee has certainly brought his team to the fore in great fashion, and if good fortune continues Utah should make the boys step in the conference meets that are soon to follow. The following lads represented the Crimson and White on the court the past season: Captain Robert Goodell, Mel Gallacher, Charles Blevins, Jack Irvine, Bill Hayden, and Harold Haymond. o u n d Up 71 u m b e r I |
