Secretary and Treasurer Since its inception in 1906, the Utah Engineering Society has never experienced such a successful year as the one just completed. Starting with a peppy visit to the Fair Grounds, continuing throughout the football season and up to the kalsomining the town the night before Thanksgiving Day, the Engineers lived up to their reputation-for activity in rallies and snake dances. They occupy the block "\J" rooting section of the football games. At the weekly meetings of the society an entertaining variey of informative of inspirational talks, or both, were given by men of national and of local repute. After holding a successful carnival dance at the Dansante on January 15, the Engineers concentrated their efforts on the presentation at the Salt Lake Theatre on March 23, 24, of "Mary Alice, esq." which both school and town acclaimed a triumph. For the annual St. Patrick's Day celebration, a green snake-dance-parade to the Park Building steps, the chanting of "Erin Go Braugh", and the Blarney Stone kissing and slide-rule spatting initiations where held as usual. This was followed by luncheon in Aunt Lucy's Cafeteria. The day was marked by an oderliness and imperturbation of Prexy and the Medics. The annual Engineers' Ball was one of the most pleasing, entertaining, and well attended dances of the year. To summarize,-the Utah Engineers, ably led and exemplified bv Merrill Bennion, were more active and energetic than ever and succeeded not only in their immediate objectives, but which is more, in gaining the good will of President Thomas and the Faculty and Regents of the Student Body and of the Towns people. 306 7Lo u n d Up 71 u m b e r |
