Show mmm^:. Bird, Pembroke, Robertson, Michelsen, Stevenson Junior Promenade Adrian Pembroke, Chairman The twenty-first annual Junior Promenade, the big social event the University of Utah's school year, was an unusual success due to the careful planning and capable management of Adrian Pembroke, Chairman, and his committee. It was held at the Hotel Utah, February 19th, preceeded by prom week, with its whirl of social activities, leading gradually to the climax of collegiate social life. With the beginning of Prom week came the tension. Dances were held every day at noon on the main floor of the Park Building, the entire student body being invited. Social fraternities and sororities held open house at their respective houses, where dancing and light refreshments were enjoyed by the guests. As a new addition the non-fraternity and sorority students held open house in the Park Building. Then with the students primed to the utmost, and ready for the big night, the promenade was held. The decorations for the occasion were exceptionally clever and well carried out. The general theme for the class booths was a presentation of the different periods in history. The freshman booth was a reproduction of the garden of Eden with trees, ferns and flowers placed throughout the room. The Sophomore booth displayed an Egyptian palace with large decorative pillars, fans and carved figures. The Junior booth represented a medevial castle with large bright colored domes set with flowers and bright lamp shades. The modern futuristic period was carried out by the Seniors. Taken as a whole the scheme produced a brilliant and picturesque effect. The event was well attended, but not too crowded to make it uncomfortable. It can be well said that it was one of the best and. most successful in the history of the school. 7Lo u n d Humber |
