Show 4fc William "Bill" Cox Track Captain, Weights If William Snow Cox ever had an enemy, such an individual has yet to come out and declare himself. Although Bill is no carpet knight, nor is he actively engaged in a social way, yet he is one of the popular and likable fellows on the campus. His consistant training, and sincere efforts in boosting Utah in the athletic world has won for him the admiration of all the followers of the Utes. Bill began breaking and establishing records at the Ogden High school from v/hence he went to the University of California for a semester; and then decided to cast his Jot with Utah. While in the camp of the Bears, Bill managed to win his events in every meet in which he was entered, and so what was a decided gain for Utah, proved to be ultimately a loss for California For since his entrance in the school two years ago, Bill has established two conference records. His heave Ol 139 feet 6 inches in the discus, and the figure of 44 feet 6% inches in the shot-put are present marks for the weight tossers of the conference to shoot at. Likewise, he reigns supreme in his home state, never having been topped in these two events by a Utah man. Utah's red-headed captain was also a participant in the much heralded Drake relays, and gave a good account of himself, winning fourth place in the discus. He was only headed by such national and. Olympic stars as Houser of the Trojans, and Kuck of the Kansas Teachers. So Bill not only has led his teammates in decisive victories over the Farmers and Cougars, but he has contributed very liberally to the points garnered by the Crimson. 7L o u n d Up 71 u m b e r |
