Show 19 2 1 «-> UTONIAH Freshman Football Freshman football, in terms used by Ike Armstrong, means only one thing, and that is, gun fodder for the varsity. Early in the season the first string men were gunning to topple over the lowly freshmen, but as usually happens in such contests, the regulars found out they weren't so good, and that the freshmen were to be respected, if not for their polished playing, then for their fight and determination. The only satisfaction one gets out of playing freshmen football is the hope that some day one might warrant a position on the first eleven, and so it is with this always in mind that the gun fodder saunter onto the gridiron each night to be hammered by the more experienced varsity. It is to the credit of Coach Oswald and his proteges that the Aggies and. the Cougar first year men were decisively downed. In the first game of the season the L. D. S. High School was routed, and then near the end of the year, the lads made a trip to Idaho to engage the Albion Normal in battle. The good work of all the men resulted in a 6-0 triumph. In these contests the clever running of Burton and Roberts was highly commendable, as was also the line plunging and defensive work of Owen Iverson. Dow proved to be a tower of strength on the line, and Ike's remark to the effect that he was as tough as they make 'em anywhere, was borne out by his stellar work during the whole season. It is impossible to commend each individual for his work, but it should be enough to say that they performed in a complimentary manner; the reward of which will be recognition when it comes time for the mentor to make his final selections for the team that will wear the crimson in its conquests. 17: Capt.
