German engraver, born Carl Traugott, in Metz in 1792. In 1806 Beyer studied drawing and painting at the Dresden Academy under Lindner and Schubert, but he specialized in engraving, both of copper and steel. Beginning in 1820, Beyer worked in Paris as an illustrator, creating numerous reproductions of genre tableaus, portraits, and battle scenes. A Yanktonan Indian (with Johann Hurlimann) French engraver and etcher of mezzotint, born in Paris, March 9, 1793. Son of an architect, Chollet studied under Bervic in Paris. He debuted at Salon de Paris in 1824 with L'Orphelin and J'ai perdu!, after A. E. G. Rbhn, and he continued to exhibit in the salons between 1824 and 1848 . Chollet gained considerable reputation by the excellence of his plates. He reproduced the works of Desenne, H.
