Show 263 Swiss painter, engraver, and aquatint etcher, born in Hottingen in 1811; died in Zurich, circa 1860. Weber studied in Zurich, Munich, and Paris. He was a student of Gottfried Keller; from 1835, Weber was a member of the Zurcher Kunstlergesellschaft. Weber produced numerous views of Switzerland in aquatint. One of his panoramas, Ufer des Zurichsees. was hung in the Swiss National Museum. Weber is best known for his book illustrations, collaborating with other artists, including Hurlimann, Himley, Hegi, Martens, and Salathe, to produce the travel albums popular in the early nineteenth century. Only one catalog reference has been found for this artist. Carl Brun notes that Zschokke was commissioned to execute a sepia drawing of a view of Binzenhof for Madame Jules Mallet of Paris.
