Show that ( not j1'o't j1ot ) only is there a very 59 ( Avide vide ) range ( in fil ) velocities ( throughout throiighout ) any cross section at ( any ally ) particular ( mo- mo ) ( ment nient ) and a difference in velocity at every change in cross section and slope , ( even eyen ) though the stream discharge ( remains reniains ) constant , but also a change in velocity with every variation in flow . In other words , each change in volume of flow , slope of river , size or character of bed channel is accompanied by a change in velocity . Velocity characteristics can therefore be shown clearly only at sections where actual ( measurements measuTements ) of velocity have been made . These sections on the Colorado , Green , and San Juan are limited to localities where stream gaging stations have been maintained by the U . S . ( Geo- Geo ) logical Survey , and for the ( rivers Tivers ) in question are _ ( located locatecl ) at : Green River , near Green River , Utah . Colorado River , near Cisco , Utah . Colorado River , at Lees Ferry , Arizona . San Juan River at Goodridge bridge , near Bluff ( Utah -Utah Utah ) . , The velocity characteristics at these stations , based on ( measurements measiirements ) by theTJ . S . Geological ( Sur- Sur ) vey , are shown in Exhibits 82 and ( 82-A 82A ) by Hoyt . As stated in ( tlie the ) report and oral testimony , gaging stations are , of necessity , located where ( river-bed riverbed ) conditions are as favorable as possible , and where , considering the river , velocities are low and ( uni- uni uui- uui ) 96891-30-5 |
