Description Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929.

S . ( Q-eol Qeol Geol ) . Survey as summarized in a report prepared for the Secretary of the Interior on the grazing ( resources resoiirees ) of Utah show ( that thtit ) 98.6 per cent are ( graz- graz ) ( ing iug ) lands or in national forest ( national forests are 12 per cent of the total ) and the ( remaining reniaining ) 244,800 acres , or 1.4 per cent , is tillable land . ( Addi- Addi ) tional evidence showing ( rough rouggh ) , ( arid and ) country is ( con- con ) tained in field notes , General Land Office , Exhibits 419 to 459 .
