Show Measles (ICD-9=055, ICD-10=B05) Compiled by Lars Peterson 2000 Utah Measles Cases: 3 One possible cause for measles resurgence in recent years is Utah's being below the national average for measles vaccination. Over the last few years Utah has caught up with the national average and this should help prevent or limit further outbreaks. During most of the 1980's, the incidence of mea- Table 22. In five of the last ten years, Utah had no cases of measles but this lull was interrupted with over 100 cases in 1994 and 1996. Before the measles vaccine was introduced in 1963, more than one half million cases of measles were reported annually in the United States. Since then, the measles incidence has steadily decreased.
