Show Section III. General Health Status The third data subsection of this year's edition of Utah's Health: An Annual Review provides information regarding Utah's general health status. Although previous editions of Utah's Health: An Annual Review have contained a health status subsection in their Data Section, this year's General Health Status subsection focuses only on the data topics that provide insight for Utah's general health. Any pages that cover more specific areas of health, such as diseases or behavioral risk factors, are included in other subsections of this edition's Data Section. Subsection III, in addition to subsections I and II, provides a foundation for understanding the current status of Utah's health. There are a number of general indicators that provide insight regarding a population's general health status. Things such as mortality rates, life-expectancy tables, and general health care expenditures can each provide useful information in determining the effectiveness of a population's general health practices and its health care system. This subsection contains data obtained from various sources such as vital statistics records, hospital discharge data, and data from other national and state health agencies. There is also interesting survey data regarding self-perceived health status. Utah's Health: An Annual Review Volume VIII 59 |
