My old friend Prof. Barboza du Bocage has recently sent me for comparison a very interesting bird, which he has received from his correspondent Senhor Francisco Newton, who is well known to Ornithologists as the discoverer of several new and remarkable forms of 1 I much regret to have to state that the Sciuropterus described by me (P. Z. S. 1886, p. 74) as S. davisoni proves on re-examination, with larger series, to be referable to S. horsfieldi, whether that in its turn is or is not the same as S. saqitta, Linn. 2 Ann. Mag. N. H.
