The majority of the specimens of V. lebetina hitherto recorded have come from the Tell region of Western Algeria, but examples of this species have also been mentioned from Batna on the high plateau and likewise from Bona on the coast, in the Tell region. As our knowledge of the northern portion of the Sahara intervening between Duirat and Egypt becomes more extended, it is probable that this variety of V. lebetina will be found to occur throughout that district, and, possibly, in Egypt itself. These specimens belong to the var. ridibunda, Pallas, the most widely distributed race, and the only one found in Barbary.
