Show 1928 Midvale Jr. High School won the Jordan District Joe Barney was the coach, with the following team: Rex Rueben - C?ampionship. Beckstead, Bergman, Eer Cole, Bill Pressler, Oscar Carlson, George Hicks, Green, John Dunoskovic, John Corak, Albert Robertson, Frank LaComb, Proko Prika, Graham, Roe, Anderson. In June 1928, the Junior Independents were organized following young players: Pete Robertson, Ross Anderson, Rudy Anderson, Joe Barney, Will Brown, Frank Lacomb, A. Macklin, Robertson, Lloyd Porter, Ray Hughes, Lyle Reading. Other teams playing in the league were the Juniors: Smith, Lefty Reese, Skippy Landers John Dunoskovic cagli?, John .Mutch, Robinson, 'John Corak, Roy Vldic, Wilhe RoblS, Bob O'Brien and the all-stars: L. D. Thompson, Lloyd, Pollcich, Thompson, Nick Zagarich, Becker, Zaiser, John Eltz and Dan with the . Zagarich. In 1946, a four team Junior league was formed by Midvale City with Cyril Rasmussen, city councilman in charge of recreation, at the head. A team from the NW section of the city was managed by Reginald LeFevre, NE section by Lawrence Brown, SW section by Joe Petrlich and SE section by Vern Lester. Early in the 1930'S, sports' enthusiast, Tom Starkovich, organized and sponsored a team which became known as the "Bohunks." Also managed by Starkovich, the team roster included Lyle Reading, Lawrence (Lolly) Ray, Albert Robertson, Bill Pressler, Lloyd Porter, Vaughn Soffe, Frank LaComb, John (Boola) Predovich, Lonnie Holt, Dan Zagarich, Nick Zagarich, and Albert Blatnick. This was an independent and challenged any and all organized teams, such as: Utah State Prison, Gemmel Club, U. S. Mines, and many Farm Bureau teams. Humor and fun was the trademark of the team; they all remember when the prisoners thanked them for coming to play them and Soffe replied, "You're welcome Midvale - you come and play Amateur Baseball now us at Midvale! " was Association organized in June, 1929. Marty Beckstead was named manager, with Clyde Canning, H. M. Nicholson, and C. E. Matthews as directors. The league included teams from Bingham, Garfield, S. L. Tribune, Oregon Short Line, and Midvale. Teams and their managers were: Yannigans, Max Marcus; Old Timers, Norval Vincent; Poultry, Clarence Rasmussen; Mill and Smelter, Harry Bowen. Equipment will be borrowed from the Farm Bureau League. Bennie Schmiett was named league manager, assisted by Norval Vincent and Ed O'Brien. In 1934, Midvale had Federation League. a team in the Amateur The team played Sunday nd Tuesday. Team recruits were: Vaughn Soffe, Lon Holt, Frank Reading, Chris Rushton, Vern Turpin, Al Drake, Bill Pressler, Lawrence Ray, Jack Reese, Louis Goff, Harold Landers, Lyle Reading, Earl Bowen, Albert Blatnick, Bill Brown, and Lloyd Porter. In September, 1934, this team played an exhibition game against the Detroit Colored Giants. This was a comedy team as well as playing excellent baseball. Their record was 139 wins with only 9 losses. Cannon president, and as president, was organized Blaine Watts as with vice Tyler Vincent as secretary and treasurer of the Midvale Club. Frank Reading, formerly iwth U.S. Mines, Bingham, was appointed team manager. Other teams in the league included: Gemmel Club, U.S. Mines, Pinney Beverage, Magna and Provo.
