During the year, the Club sponsored a money making project, a three-act musical comedy, "Bubbling Over." Some programs presented were travelogues, discussion of the theatre, interior decoration, doll collecting, hair styles and makeup, radio, and history of gardening. A canyon party and tea were also enjoyed. During the year, too, the Midvale Kiwanis Club, in cooperation with the Junior Community Club, spon sored a benefit performance to aid local blind people and those who required eye treatment or new glasses Beatrice Wilcox (Mrs. Ellis) MIDVALE LADIES' GUILD Community Club, sponsored by the Midvale Ladies' Community Club, was organized February 12, 1940, with 22 members. Representatives of the senior club at the meeting were: Mrs. Heber Aylett, Mrs. Neil Olson, Mrs. J. W. Nibley, and Mrs. J. O. The Midvale Junior who Jones. were unable to afford these necessities. The following officers were elected: Betty Hyke, President; Lillus Marchant, First Vice President; Eunice Jackson, Second Vice President: Ann Johnson. first year, 75 young women Club At the close of the meetings were set up twice monthly. Secretary; Mrs. William Grant, Treasurer; Forgie, Auditor. was September 30, 1940. Two girls from the Junior Club, Nelda Marchant and Anita Hyke, were honored to serve at a tea held at the Governor's Mansion during the Utah Federation of Women's Clubs Convention held in Salt Lake City April, in the Midvale area had joined the Midvale Junior Community CLub. Gas rationing in World War II made it difficult to ob tain speakers, some members went to work in defense plants, some went on military assignments with their Leona husbands and others volunteered at the Murray U.S.O. The club disbanded at that time, but reorganized in 1945 changed the club name to the Midvale Ladies' Guild, meeting once a month. The club sponsored fashion shows to make money for projects, gave equipment and a drinking fountain and the Midvale park; contributed to "Save our Children," Girl Scouts, Girls' State and the Youth Ac tivity Center. Support was given to the Halloween par .to ties and members gave volunteer time to the Veterans Hospital, as well as to polio clinics, ex-ray clinics and blood banks. The club purchased accoustic tile for city clothing and gifts for the Midvale Rest Home hall and and the Utah State Hospital in Provo. "God Bless America," was chosen as the club song and an Entertainment and a Program Committee were appointed with Mrs. J. H. Baty and Mrs. J. A. Hosmer respective chairmen.
