It has been the home for many important figures in local, state, and even national affairs. The district has also been the home to the lesser-known but important large working class Ogden has had, in large response historically to the railroad and defense industries. The district is the best representative area of the residential settlement and development of the city of Ogden, Utah. Architecturally it is locally significant as a physical reflection of its residential buildings and the historic development of the city from its agricultural beginnings through its industrial era and current status as the hub of Northern Utah. The feeling and association, along with the overall integrity of the architecture, makes this district a very significant representation of the city's past. 84 According to the 2000 Census, approximately 19,000 people with Hispanic Origin reside in the city (or 25% of the city's total population), an increase of 12,000 people since 1990. |
