Show INTERVIffiv: Mr. and Mrs. Salazar Page 52 ES: Well, my grandparents, you know, I didn't know them, he was born in 1801 and he died in 1873, so quite .. and my grandma, both of them died the same year. And then my parents, my father was born 1850 and my mother was born 1854, and they joined the church in 1878 in Colorado, in Manassa, Colorado ... and of course we, the family, was born in the church, except two or three of my older sisters. BM: What were they? ES: They were Catholics. BM: They were Catholics? ES: They were Catholics. My mother and my father was a contac~ with the missionaries, and they left the Book of Mormon, my mother couldn't read, but my dad could read a little bit Spanish, and read the Book of Mormon and finally the Book of Mormon touched their hearts someway that they joined the church. BM: As a missionary, you have to go on a mission for two years? ES: Yes. BM: Could you describe some of the work you did, and with what kind of people? ES: Oh, I meet a lot of people, all Catholics. BM: Did you run into conflict? |
