Show INTERVIE\v: Sierra Page 2 fact that I was asking a question. Some of the questions that were asked was: Lee Trevino, was there to play at Monterey to play at Pebble Beach, the Bing Crosby, I think, was the tournament. He said, 'I really appreciate an organization like the American GI Forum Auxiliary having things like this, where people coming here paying $25 bucks per person, to have dinner and for a scholarship fund for needy Chicano kids.' And then Lee looked up and the next question is, 'Lee , what are your plans, do you plan to play in the Masters this year?' And Lee said, 'Yes, yes. I'm going to play in that thing. I think I should play in it, but let me tell you about education in Texas. Let me tell you why I think scholarships are important. Because hell, my kids go to school and they're discriminated against. I know they're not getting equal education and I go down to the school and I go down there and try to ask and talk about what the problems are in the school there, and those teachers turn around and all they want is my autograph, they want to talk about golf. They don't want to talk |
