Show This is Tape II with Mr. Dave Sierra, national editor of the American GI Forum newspaper, The Forumeer. Mr. Sierra is from 127 Graham #3 San Jose, California. The interview is taken in Room 352, the Del Hebb Hotel, in Phoenix, Arizona, on February 9, 1973, by Greg Coronado, Jr. GC: Dave, we were talking you said, that, we agreed that the status the real status change of the Chicano is that he is getting the creation part of it, but we still, you still have to deal with subtle racism in a way. I mean the guy still has to get his degree, the guy still has to prove himself, the guy still has to do things and be aware of whe re he may be blocked. DS: Yes. Let me give you an example where I was faced with that. One time Lee Trevino was invited to appear in San Jose as a benefit for the Santa Clara Forum Scholarship Fund, Santa Clara Auxillary. And he came there and before the dinner where he spoke , he had a press conference. We arranged for, the women arranged a press conference to which I was admitted, as were a lot of other people. The Chicano style , Lee Trevino's special press conference. That is only members of the working press, but anybody that's got two feet can walk in and ask him questions.
