For instance, there was some schools who were Mexican schools, like for instance Mathis, Bishop, and the facilities were not even adequate for the kids to go to and we even had the same situations when I was in school. Our, my father was very much involved in trying to get us integrated in school and he nnd a committee of about three or four people, concerned for their children, appeared before the school board and, of course, we didn't realize it then what they were doing. We didn't, we just didn't care that when we saw what was happening. Later on of course, the organization became a pressure group. The American G.I. Forum was a pressure group. This is why we decided that we needed something with a name, we need something that's got, that's nationally known and something like that. So we started doing that, and this is why. Also, we felt that the organization could help us in other areas like helping some of the guys who were veterans who were being helped, getting a pay and good jobs. We have a military base and the military base was the employment, there was muy pequito Mejicano, the same way the U.S. Post Office was.
