Show CENTER effectively coordinated the collection of all such information across many health care sites. Furthermore, the EPICENTER analyzed the information to identify possible trends that could have a major impact on public health. Coordinate The EPICENTER coordinated all disease monitoring, food service, and mass gathering regulation activities across the six counties that hosted Olympic venues. The program allowed for important information to be rapidly exchanged between local health departments, state agencies, the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) medical clinics, and other assisting agencies. The EPICENTER was prepared to act as an information center had there been a necessary public health response that exceeded the capacities of the local agency. Communicate The EPICENTER issued daily reports of Utah's health issues. Media reports were issued by EPICENTER staff members through the Health and Environment Desk at the Utah Olympic Public Safety Command's Joint Information Center at the Utah State Capital. Lastly, EPICENTER served as a public health interagency communications center for the following federal, state, and local health agencies: Utah Department of Health, Utah Department of Environmental Quality, Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, Davis County Health Department, Salt Lake Valley Health Department, Summit County Health Department Utah County Health Department, Wasatch County Health Department, Weber-Morgan Health Department, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Region 8, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Food and Drug Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and the Salt Lake Organizing Committee Medical.
