Show Section I. Population Indicators The Population Subsection, the first of seven subsections in Volume VIII of Utah's Health: An Annual Review, provides an important foundation for understanding the relevance and importance of the other six subsections of health-specific data. Specifically, much of the data estimates contained in the Data Section are derived from, calculated with, or dependent upon, population data of some type. Moreover, population estimates affect health policy decisions on many levels, from determining the level of government spending on health-related services to decisions of professional health institutions and providers regarding the type of services they provide. Population, therefore, is the subsection to begin the Data Section of Utah's Health: An Annual Review, as its contents facilitate the understanding and appreciation of the data contained in the remainder of the Data Section. Because of its basic importance, the Population Subsection of Utah's Health: An Annual Review has changed the least of the journal's seven subsections. Although some population data that previously had its own data page has been combined with other pages, every aspect of population data previously contained in Utah's Health: An Annual Review, is also contained, in some form, in this edition of the journal. 48 Utah's Health: An Annual Review Volume VIII |
