Show 3452 Lint- D 1475 Q Tell me about the boat with the Evinrude. Is that the same boat some of these other gentlemen have used? A No sir, I don't think so. Q What length of boat, and width, and draft? A Sixteen foot boat about four feet beam; as I remember it, had about twenty- inch sides. They called it a modified Galloway type boat; just a cheap boat. Q How much water did it draw. A I would say from eight to ten inches with the load we had on it and in it. The motor was fastened on the back. The way the boat was decked over, the propeller wasn't very deep under water; when we started out we tried to tie the boats together tandem, but we couldn't tow them that way. Q Before you get on to that, how much of a load did you have in the boat with the Evinrude on it? A I would say there was in the neighborhood of a thousand pounds in the holds then; there were two of us on the deck. Q What were the other two boats as to size, draft, and so forth? A They were sixteen foot boats, rounded sides; we called them lapped side boats; they were riveted; the bottom was rounded just a little bit; had about thirteen inches flare -- that is, rake, rather.
