FARNSWORTH: Q I call your attention to another article appearing in this Exhibit 177, which bears the title, " Through Mysterious canons of the Colorado", the date 1892 being up in the left-hand corner, and the printed page being 253. You wrote that article? A Yes sir. Q Wrote it at the time when the incidents of the journey were fresher in your mind than they are now? A Yes. Q And when you had available your diary and your stenographic notes and all other material bearing on your trip? A Yes sir. Q Calling your attention now to that page 253, after you speak of launching the boats, you state this: ( Reads:) " The next day we cast off and started south on the Green for the head of the Colorado river, one hundred and twenty miles away. " A few miles from our start we entered Laby-rinth canon, which is very winding. At Bowknot Bend we traveled seven miles to get one- fourth of a mile ahead, the river making a complete bowknot." |
