A Talus slopes, large boulders, on one side or the other. Q All the distance, or at different spots? A I believe there are talus slopes on one side or the other all the way through. There are no box canyons except at the last rapid, there is one there that is boxed. Q That is at the last rapid? A Yes sir. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Then you came out into Narrow canyon, after you got through the cataracts, then on down through Glen canyon to what point? A To Lees Ferry. Q Just describe your trip from the end of Cataract canyon down to Lees Ferry. A We already had the traverse run from the mouth of Freemont; on the previous trip we had worked that, so we tied in our line at the Freemont river, went on down as far as Hite; we tried to repair the motor. We didn't have the material to repair it, so we went on to Bull Frog creek and picked up our line there, that is, our line of traverse, and worked on down to somewhere around the mouth of the San Juan river, where Mr. Trimmer was working; there were several parties working on that neighborhood |
