Show 3403 1426 MR. FARNSWORTH: With reference to Exhibit 176, purporting to be copy of the field notes of Mr. Stanton, in view of the fact that counsel are unable personally to vouch for those notes, and that certain entries under certain dates appear to be very meager. The possibility occurs to me that the individual who transcribed them may have exercised some judgment as to what was and not pertinent. I take it it will not be difficult for them to get an exemplified copy, and if they will get an exemplified copy we will not object to its introduction. THE SPECIAL MASTER: You mean certified, don't you? MR. FARNSWORTH: Well, if it is certified,-- even if it is certified before a notary in New York-- MR. BLACKMAR: Certified by the director of the Public Library there. MR. FARNSWORTH: If it is certified to be a full, true and correct copy of all of his notes touching this expedition down to Lees Ferry, and everything in it that relates to it, we won't object to it. THE SPECIAL MASTER: One expedition, or two? MR. BLACKMAR: Mr. Stanton was on two. We will want to use both. THE SPECIAL MASTER: You mean both expeditions, then one didn't get to Lees Ferry. MR. FARNSWORTH: Anything in Mr. Stanton's diary |
