Show An PUBLICATIONS COUNCIL WAYLAND HAND Publicity Director ? The Publications council, to which has been delegated the important task of maintaining and upholding the high standards of quality of the various campus publications, holds a truly prominent niche in the scheme of University life. As a result of its influence, this group may be said to control, in an almost direct way, the policies and activities of the student body members as they pertain to their school interests and functions. ? The council consists of a representative group of five members, two of which must be faculty advisors. Members of the faculty elected to the council are in office for a period of two years, and it is so arranged that the faculty member serving his second year becomes chairman of the committee. The remaining three members are students, two serve for two years, and the other is in office for one year. To assure true representation, all members are elected by the students at the annual school election. ? By far the most important duty of the Publications council is the appointment of the editors and business managers of the Chronicle, Pen, Humbug, and Utonian. It is the further task of the council to act as the supervising body on all matters pertaining to campus publications. Any questions which may arise concerning such things as editorial policies, infringement of rules or misuse of office, are all referred directly to the council for a ruling. All duties were handled this year in a manner quite satisfactory to everyone, and which left no doubt in anyone's mind as to the capability and efficiency of the present governing body of publications. ? Serving as faculty representatives on the council were Gail Plummer, and Dr. J. Geer-lings. The three student members were Garfield Anderson, Jay Parkinson, and Adam Bennion.
