Show ? Having completed an unusually successful year, the University of Utah debate team again won a high place in the Rocky Mountain forensic circles. The first debate of the year was held at B.Y.U., in October. Banking was the question and the debate was non-decisional. The Rocky Mountain Debate Tournament was held in Bozeman, Montana, in October. Utah showed its prowess by capturing first place in team honors, with Edward Sheya winning first place and Hyrum Hendrickson fourth. "Mike"' Masaoka won second place for his oratorical ability. An important non-decision debate was held on February 1st at St. Mary's College in Oakland, Calif., with the Northwest Nazarene College. The debaters took a trip to Ogden, February 6-7 for practice debates with U.A.C. and Weber College. Under the able direction of Mr. Bane, debate coach, the team traveled to Denver, February 9-10 for the third annual Rocky Mountain Speech conference tournament where Utah won second place, losing to Colorado University. Mike Masaoka again came to the fore and captured first place in oratory with his speech on "The Great God Gab." ?The team was composed of: Jay Broadbent, manager, Howard Anderson, Marvin Bertoch, Newman Crookston, Joe Fratto, Hyrum Hendrickson, Mike Masaoka, Ned Johnson, Ray Owen, Jay Parkinson, Cluis Pergastus, Earl Ross, Edward Sheya, and Avrom Sandack.
