Hatchets were buried, rivalry forgotten, and grudges forgiven while fraternity and sorority members frolicked in amazing disguises. ?The admission requirements to the Masquerade, which was held November 4, 1933, in the Union Building, were a fraternity or sorority pin, a date, and a costume. Serpentine and confetti lent the ballroom the atmosphere of a Mardi Gras, and fraternity and sorority songs were featured. ? Prizes added an incentive to dressing in original costumes. A gallant Romeo brought Alice-In-Wonderland, and Raggedy Andy was there with his Raggedy Ann; a six-foot angel, even to the wire halo, was seen dancing with a demure armoured knight, and a properly dressed nursemaid brought his girl friend, clad in rompers, in a perambulator. ? This proved to be successful in creating good will among the fraternities and sororities, and it is hoped that the Greek Masquerade will become an annual affair. Two Hundred Thirty-two |
