Show Utah 58 vs. B.Y.U. 87 At Provo April 21, 1934 ? Handicapped by the absence of Greenwell, Adams, and Hartenstein, Utah lost the first dual track meet of the season to B.Y.U. Despite the score of 87-58, Utah showed it could be a strong contender for conference laurels. ? Barlow gave the Utah fans a pleasant surprise by defeating Taylor in the mile. Goldstein captured high points with ll'/t- Ostler came next with 11 points. ? Thornley tasted his first college competition and responded by throwing the javelin 186 feet for a first place with Davies second. Dansie contributed 4 points and Hodge tied for first in the pole vault. The relay team composed of Sentker, Mitchell, Franks and Goldstein won the 880-yard event. ? The Utes captured seven first places. Other points were won by Jepp-son and Anderson, quarter-mile; Meier, shot; Daughters, 880; Wiley, two-mile; and Grosso, discus.
