With the Farmer hopes thus diluted, they traveled to the "Lake'' knowing one loss meant their downfall as far as title hopes were concerned. The Utes ignored the Aggie's ambitions and gained a tie for second place by twice emerging victorious, 43-35 and 51-44. ? Scoring splurges by Erekson and Kinner netted twenty-two and twenty-nine points, respectively, for the series. ? A two-point margin at half-time was slowly widened as the game progressed. Cleo Petty, Farmer ace, garnered twelve points, but his team-mates faltered. ? In the season's finale, the Utes played their best ball. The Redskin forward wall of Miller, Erekson, and Kinner fulfilled their promise by getting twelve, fourteen, and fifteen points, while Kramer and Mecham, although slightly weak defensively, intercepted numerous passes, which resulted in scores.
