Show Utah 0 UCLA 21 At Los Angeles Oct. 6, 1933 ? After using nearly every gridder and the water boy to begin another banner drive the Utes had sharpened their tomahawks for the U.C.L.A. Bruins' hide. Two weeks of drill fettled the Utes for the battle against Coach Bill Spaulding's and Captain Lee Coates' Uclans. ? A perspiration - producing work - out on Las Vegas' sun - scorched field stirred the Utes' ambition to stigmatize the Pacific Coast league grid superiority. ? In this night game in the great Olympic stadium the best efforts of the Utahns wilted at every scoring opportunity. Only 26 yards difference in gains through scrimmage and passes accounted for the Bruins' 21-0 victory. ? Fleet little Joe Sarver, former Salt Laker, Frankovitch, Rafferty, Smith, Keeble, and Coates were aces for the California attack. n Versatile Roly Sleater led Utah's offensive drives, assisted ably by Croft, McKenzie, and Ostler whom the coast papers praised highly. Davies and Richins accomplished notable aerial feats. Westphal halfback Ostler tackle Croft guard One Hundred Eighty-three |
