Cannon was commissary general.FLAG RUSH.-The annual Freshman-Sophomore rush for the possession of the canvas trophy was again won by the Freshmen. The Freshmen, by virtue of the new rules, framed to offset their great advantage in numbers, had to capture the flag twice. Geffen took the trophy from the pole and then the field scrap followed. Fans Pick the Red Socks to WinV ~SCIENTISTS.-On Wednesday, September 26th, the party of sixty-four distinguished foreign and American geologists and geographers visited the University buildings and the weekly chapel assembly. After addresses by several of the savants, the party enjoyed a delicious luncheon served in the upper room of the gymnasium annex by Miss Van Cott and some of the college girls.SACKING McCARTY.-On Friday, October 18th, the Freshmen scored in the intermittent struggles between the two lower classes. They captured and sacked President McCarty of the Sophomore class and raised him to a perilous elevation conveniently furnished by the machinery used in constructing the new building. After the Student Body meeting, the Sophs made a gallant but unsuccessful attempt at rescue. President Gardner of the Student Body intervened and effected McCarty's release.CORNER STONE.-With many of Utah's prominent citizens upon the temp orary platform above the foundation of the new Administration building, and with the various classes in large numbers around the new building, the ceremony of laying the corner store was completed October 23.
