NOT. 2 VERMILION- Cross a small branch half a mile from Big Bine. JUNCTION- The old road, to the north, is near the Vermilion ; the new track keeps on the ridge, haying the heads of streams frequent, with timber on either hand, at a short distance from the road. BRANCH- Supposed tributary to the Big Nemaha, 10} feet wide by 2 inches deep. CREEK- Runs south, into the Nemaha; the road passing between branches; NEMAHA BRANCH- We ascend, from the tributary, to high ground; good road. CREEK- Runs south CREEK- Runs south; has fine timber and grass in vicinity. CREEK- Rising a long slope, and then descending from the ridge. INDEPENDENCE CREEK- Road sinuous; on the dividing ridge between affluents of Kansas and Missouri Rivers.
