Here the road should keep more southerly, crossing the Black Hill* over a lower ridge* and crossing Crow f.' n.' ok, deflect northerly, to Lodge Pole Creek; thence down its valley to it* junction with the South Fork of the Platte. CROW BRANCH- The route was changed from the Umbered heads of Lodge Pole Creek, to turn southerly to Crow Creek. This crook in the trace can he avoided by keeping to the south.
