Show MINUTES OF A SPECIAL EVENT IN THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT B.P. W. CLUBS Southern District officers and members of the Cedar City Club travelled to Hurricane, Utah, Thursday night, February 17, 1966. They met with members of the newly organized Zion BPW Club at Jerrfe at 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of presenting the charter and members, initiating installing club officers. The state officers were unable to be present and had asked the district officer s to the club charter, act in their stead. Greetings were extended to all by Zion Club President-elect Kathryn Brewer. The group recited the pledge of allegiance to the flag, and the club collect was read by Lillian Workman. All joined in singing the club song, accompanied by Elsa Ruesch at the piano. District officers were introduced, as was Cedar City Club President, Catherine Crichton, who in turn introduced the members of the Cedar City sponsoring Club in attendance. Mrs. Brewer then introduced her club members. Dollie Henrie of the Panguitch Club was present and brief and best wishes. gave greetings Those present were seated at tables decorated with green and yellow s'at in streamers A green or yellow satin rose was corsage presented each lady present. Immediately behind the head table, the State BPW banner was displayed on the wall, with the National Emblem at the front of the table. block letter s "BPW" and tapers. were Large displayed on andther wall. Following the nearl, Mrs. Brewer introduced her committee and then the time was turned to the district director, detailing the history of the Edna Sargent. National, State, Mrs. Sargent began by giving a talk and challenged all and local BPW, members to live up to their heritage and to the ideals and purposes for which the club was established. the candle of the National Federation, Mrs. Lighting symbolic Sargent asked each charter member to corne forward when called, sign the roll to be placed with the charter, light her individual taper from the candle, and receive her membership certificate. This was done, with 21 of those 25 named responding and taking their places. The emblem was then explained with appropriate ceremony by the other district officers, Blanche Dotson and Karla Hulet. All present were then asked to repeat the club pledge in unison. District Director Sargent then presented, charter for the Zion BPW Club. on The charter behalf of the State BPW Officers, was the accepted by President Kathryn Brewer, who expressed her pleasure at receiving it and thanked all who had helped to make it possible. Catherine Crichton of the Cedar City Club then conducted an installation ceremony of the Zion Club officers. Accepting tokens of office were: Kathryn Brewer, President; Lillian Workman, Vice-President; Elsa Ruesch, Secretary; Althea Dix, Treasurer. Mrs. Crichton presented, on behald of the Cedar City Club, a rosewood gavel for the new club.
