Show Business and Professional Women Hold District Convention. Friday, October 12th, 1934, at Duchesne, about fifty members of Roosevelt, Vernal and Duchesne Business and Professional clubs gathered at the Duchesne Hotel for their district convention. The meeting opened with a banquet at- 8 p.m., with Mrs. Hildur W. Johnstun, She introduced Mrs. Bessie chairman of the conference, as toastmistress. Kohl, president Mrs. Reva president of the Duchesne Lundberg, president of the Vernal club, who gave the address of welcome. of the Roosevelt club, and Miss Stella Stevens, club, responded to introductions. Mrs. Babs Murdock of Duchesne read the club collect; Meda Walker, accompanied by Gwen Hanson of Vernal, sang; Miss Lula Clegg, state president, spoke briefly on DEconomic Conditions"; instrumental selection, by Veda and Kermit Poulson of Duchesne; reading Mrs. M. J. Edwards of Roosevelt. Topeka, Kansas, national field representative of federation, was the guest speaker and led the panel discussion on one of todays leading questions, Why is Economic Planning Essential to National Stability?" Assisting Miss Bauersfeld were Miss Lula Clegg, state president; Mrs. Mary Orser of Roosevelt; Miss Gwen Hanson and Miss Pearl Sheffer of Vernal. Miss Fern Bauersfeld of the bridge at the American Legion chateau followed with Gifts Emily Madsen of Duchesne receiving high score prise. were presented Miss Bauersfeld and Miss Clegg from the clubs.
