Show 1961 FAll CONFERENCE OF DiE SOlJ1liERN DISTRICT B. P W. CLUB • The Fall Conference of the B.P.W. Club V!l.S held at Panguitch Sunday October 1, 1961 at the Flying Cafe. Mrs. Dolly Henrie, President of the Panguitch B.P.W. Club extended welcome and greetings to those attending the convention and turned the meeting to Mrs. Naomi Hughes District Director. Mrs. Hughes welcomed the group and thanked all for coming. She introduced the State Officers, President Miss Ann Erickson, 1st Vice-President Mrs. Edith Shaw, 2nd Vice President Mrs. Irene Parsons, Recording Secretary Mrs. Melba Redd, and guest speaker Mrs. Irene Warr, President of the B.P.W. League of Salt Lake eity. District directors were introduced, Mrs. Patricia Rimpau Vice Chair man and Mrs. Pauline Rumm1er secretary was excused and Mrs. Beatrice Oxley asked to take the minutes. Three musical numbers were given - Songs from "Promised Valley." Minutes of the Spring Conference held at Beaver read and approved. There were the following present from the olubs: Cedar Kanab City - - 4 St. 2 Milford 3 - George Panguitch - - 9 18 Mrs. Hughes turned the meeting to Mrs. Edith Shaw who greeted the group and thanked all for coming and for the extended. hospitality Expressed appreciation for having the opportunity of working with Mrs. Hughes and being a member of B.P.W. and what it does for one. Mrs. Irene Parsons introduced She talked on Civil Defense and invited the group to join the coming training school expecia11y set up for B.P.W. Club members to be held at Camp Williams on October 21 and 22. Fifteen dollars registration fee pays for three meals, bed and cost of training. If there are not enough registered from B.P.W. Clubs the 11th of October by other groups will be invited to join the group for training. Mrs. Parsons spoke on the need for a well coordinated program if the clubs receive the most from the outlined programs. - Melba Redd, Secretary and Chairman of the luncheon to be held Saturday, October 7 in honor of our National President Kathryn Peden, who is making a tour of clubs over the nation during national B.P.W. week. The luncheon will be held at the Hotel Utah Empire Room at 1:00 P.M. at $2.75 a plate. Mrs. Redd expressed her appreciation for the hospitality shown her and thank ed the group she said "I f 11 see you all at the luncheon Saturday." Miss Ann Erickson brought greetings from Anna Stark. She read the resolutions of respect the club sent to the funeral of former President Lyle Cardall. Ann gave very splendid report of 'the National Convention, told of the appointment of Judge Hughes as a judge by President Kennedy, told of the by law changes to be made and the of all committees. a coordinating |
