Sa&nett $>«_,<_•_ _; i._~XW_ _»«____,_'-1£, h'nzmiQlii Mr. Ralph Medusa Dear Senator Bennett: Pursuant to »•« conference with your Mr. Mechaa., I have discussed the bill introduced kj you in the Scn&te, S. €55, and its-" -ufffct upon lay client's interest, Ceaar City, Hi have two objection.- to the bill fct> U_«_fen. 1, It ts ambiguous as to whether Cedar City is taken into the project. Cedar City has a distinct program of. its own and it is not contemplated that Cedar City will become i part of the Dixie Project. 2. The statement that Cedar City will receive 8,000 acre feet of water annually may act as a limit rather than ss estimated average flow from Crystal Greek and the Kolob Dam as anticipated by the Dixie Project and tha agreement between Cedar City and the Kolob Reservoir Company. It is suggested that S. 655 should have stricken therefrom all of the language commencing with the comma on line 4, page 1, to and including the cassia on line 1, page 2. At the end of Section I, or in a separate section, we would suggest the following would meet with our approval: "The Dixie Project shall be coordinated with the Cedar City water development program which includes the diversion of the waters of Crystal Creek into the Kolob Reservoir, and after completion of the Dixie Project said waters of Crystal Creek and of the natural water shed of said Kolob Reservoir shall be exported for use of Cedar City and vicinity in accord* ance with an agreement entered into by Cedar City and Iron County, Utah on the 26th day of August, 1953 with Kolob Reservoir and Storage Association, Incorporated and Washington County, Utah." |
