Show ceiving its yearly bath. "Aus Nah und Fern," a German periodical edited in Chicago in an issue of this year, also published a cut of the "U" undergoing its bath. This periodical, too, has an immense circulation, since it probably reaches every high school and university in the country. A large cut of the same yearly event together with a view of the "U" as seen from the campus, were published in the February number of the "Technical World," a magazine published in New York. An article describing the size of the letter, the methods of whitewashing it every year and the value of the "U" to Salt Lake City accompanied the pictures. Harold Goff is the author of an article in the March issue of the "Concrete-Cement Age," a technical magazine published in Detroit. Mr. GofFs article gives a full history of the monogram, embellished with a cut of the bucket brigade at work on "U" Day.:r*STUDENT ELECTIONS.-The election of student body officers aroused more excitement than similar events of former years have created. As a result of the vote cast, which was nearly double that of last year, the leading officers of the A. S. U. U. next year will be: President, Milton H. Sevy; Vice-Presi-dent, Howard Barker; Secretary, Lila Eccles; Treasurer, Rex Sutherland; Yell Master, Robert Flagel; Editor of the Chronicle, Paul Ray.KAPPA PI ALPHA BECOMES ALPHA NU CHAPTER OF PHI BETA PI. -One of the most important events in the Greek letter circles at the University during the past year was the installation of Kappa Pi Alpha, the local medical club, as a chapter in Phi Beta Pi, one of the largest, if not the largest national medical fraternity of the United States, having thirty-seven active chapters in the different medical schools.Alpha Nu Chapter was installed April 1 8th, 1913, at the Hotel Utah, by Dr. David S. Long, supreme Secretary of the fraternity, and Dr. R. L. Byrnes of our own medical faculty. The following were initiated as charter members: Albert H. Aland, W. L. Sutherland, D. H. Winternitz, L. N. Ossman, William E. Hunter, Leslie J. Paul, E. A. Stranquist, A. C. Callister, L. S. Merrill, L. C. Shafer, G. L. Chaffin, Earl L. Skidmore, and JamesJ3.
