Total from Port Leavenworth. the top of the first hilL Bobideau has a trading post and blacksmith's-shop here, but the post is to be removed to a creek south, and over the bluffs. CBIBK- Affluent to Horse Creek. No timber, good grass. HOBSB CREEK- No wood on this creek below the hills. The road now passes over rolling ground, leaving the Platte some distance to the right Much of the way but few scattering trees to be seen. GAMP- On the Platte FOET LARAMIE- Camp half a mile above the fort Cross the Laramie Fork below the fort about one mile. WARM SPBIHG- The road taken leads over the Black Hills some distance south of the river; it avoids the Kanjon passes, and usually has better feed for cattle, except when it is consumed by the multitude of travellers. BITTIE CRKRK BRANCH ; COLD SPRING - Leaving the Warm Spring Valley, ascend a pretty steep hill, and pass over ridges to Bitter Creek. BITTER CRKSK- Main branch, up which the road lies; fuel and grass abundant ; stream 10 feet wide and 6 inches deep. HORSE- SHOE CRIBK- The road follows up a dry branch; no water until arriving at Horse- shoe Creek. Timber, grass, Ac. Cross at the forks, and rising, pass over two ridges, with dry beds of streams. SPRING- A spring and bed of creek, the water in pools. LA BONTR RIVER- From the spring rise to a high, undulating ridge, the road very crooked. Descending for 1J miles to dry bed of creek, follow this half a mile. BRANCH CAMP- At the head of a spring branch. Boad over hills, the wheels require frequent locking. Cross branches now dry. But few good situations for camping. » LA PRRLR RIVER- Stream 16 ft. wide.
