Show PEP ? With its usual enthusiasm and participation in college activities, the University of Utah Pep Band has passed another eventful and successful year on the campus, under the direction of Clarence J. Hawkins, bandmaster. ? The band has been outstanding in the quality of the music and drills presented by it before the audiences at all football games in which the University of Utah team has taken part. The crimson and white uniforms worn by the members gave a trim and striking appearance to the band as a whole. ?The cooperation of the band at all downtown rallies has aided greatly in the development of college "spirit" in the University student body. ? Besides its activity in student affairs, the Band has given several excellent programs of symphonic music during the year. The an- nual concert of the group was given in the Union Building at the last University "At-Home Sunday" of the season. The program was well received by the large audience in attendance. ? Complete programs have also been given at many of the churches and clubs throughout the city and at the Utah State Prison. ? Near the end of the spring quarter the band left on its annual trip to Logan. During this trip concerts were given at the Agricultural College and at four high schools enroute. All appearances were most enthusiastically received. ?The band organization has been under the able leadership of Parley Giles, president, Clark Wilson, vice-president, Valois Zarr, secretary-treasurer, Blaine Blomquist, librarian, and Herbert L. Snyder, drum-major and student-leader. Two Hundred Eighty-four |
