Q Now, when you arrived there did you do any placer mining? Q Just prospected with pane, is all, and found the gold so light we couldn't handle it. Q Did you go on the river at all on that trip? A No, not on the river, just on the banks of the river. Q You reached the river overland by pack outfit, did you not? A Yes sir. Q How long did you stay in and around Dandy crossing before you returned? A I didn't remember; it was either two or three days. Q You had no equipment for saving flour gold? A No. Q On that visit did you see a man by the name of Cass Hite? A Yes sir. Q Were there any other men there/ with Mr. Hite? A Yes, there was, I think, five or six; but I don't just remember; there was quite a crew in there, though. Q What were those men doing while you were there? |
