He knows the type of country, and I don't think he needs to be an expert engineer or to have made any survey there to know first that compared with costs of moving freight by river, as they are now, having in mind that, that the cost of con-structing a road to this point down the river would be utterly prohibitive Land transportation, in view of the presence of the river, and the prices at which he can take things down there by river, makes the thought of competing by land utterly absurd.
