Show 7179 Kroeger- D 5160 acres. Q The records of the District No. 7 show the acreage you have mentioned earlier in your testimony, -- please repeat it again, will you? A One hundred and twenty- nine thousand, eight hundred and forty- six acres. Q Just tell us, if you know, how the data as to acreage is obtained by the officers of District No. 7. A The data is obtained by the division engineer and his authorized deputies who actually make the estimates on the various streams of the amount of land cultivated. Q They are made at each point, are they, by observation of those officers on the ground? A yes sir, usually made by men turned water commis-sioners. Q Why, in making this exhibit, did you adopt the figures of the district engineer in the office of District No. 7 for Colorado rather than the figures of the county assessor? A Because I felt they were more nearly accurate than the county assessor's. Q Why? A The acreage as determined by the county assessors is determined largely for assessment basis, and usually held down |
