Show 7161 Gibbons- D 6142 A No, just getting off them and on them when we was on the water, just went out and looked over them. Q About 1900 did you haul a dredge and some other equip-ment and supplies for Mr. Stanton? A Yes sir. Q Where did you take that freight? A I don't remember the point where we taken it, what they called that, as my memory serves me it was just below Hanson creek. Q About how many tons did you deliver to Mr. Stanton at that point. A The dredge, they estimated it one hundred and eighty tons, and the supplies; there was a big crew of men working; I don't remember the tonnage of supplies that was taken in there; and tools and so forth. Q How was that moved from there to the bar or bars upon which Mr. Stanton was working? A It was constructed above where it was launched on the river, about between half and three- quarters of a mile, I would say; that was all pulled up on barges and boats, the machinery and all, to where they launched the dredge. Q Coming down to that period of time, do you recall seeing Mr. Mendenhall as early as that? |
