Show 7106 Baldwin- RC 5087 BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q How many times have you seen the river there filled with large cakes of ice, if you have ever seen it? A It is filled with cakes of ice every year. Q You get that every year? A We get that a certain time every year. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What times? A The Shore ice comes loose in the spring when it thaws, comes loose and we will have a period there it is pretty bad. Q What months? A It is owing to the season; generally in April and March. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q February? A No, not that early. Q you say it is pretty bad; what do you by that? A At certain times, when the river would raise a foot or two, the ice would start to come down at once, great, big pieces, you had to watch out when you were operating a boat; I have dodged them lots of times there. Q Have you ever stayed off the river on account of ice? |
