Show 7105 Baldwin- RD 5088 A No sir, never has; we never bothered about sandbars much only during July and August; other times very little trouble; we made our regular trips, as a rule, with a few exceptions. MR. FARNSWORTH: That is all. RECROSS EXAMINATION BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Did you ever have any trouble with the ice? A Yes sir. Q Where do you get the freezes there, -- what section of the river? A That was just below what they call the Bill Board; there is shore ice, is the cause of it; a big piece of shore ice comes loose from the bank, swung around in a narrow place in the river, the slush ice jammed in there and froze a dam. Q How many times have you seen the Colorado river frozen over at Moab? A Once. Q What year was that? A That was in 1924 and 1925. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You mean that was the winter of 1924 and 1924? A Yes. |
