Show 7056 Baldwin- D 5037 on the river. MR. FARNSWORTH: I imagine this company would con-struct a road, naturally, if it was a cheaper way of opera-tion, and there was sufficient freight to be carried over it. This court permitted these oil men -- THE SPECIAL MASTER: If it is going to be a question of cost of constructing a road, then I don't think the wit-ness is qualified to testify on that. MR. FARNSWORTH: Not as to details. I don't see that you can add anything to what he has already testified to. He has testified to facts, what it has cost him on a good road, and what it has cost him on the water. I think a question based on a purely hypothetical road that you yourself any never would have been built, is purely speculative. MR. FARNSWORTH: That is just what I am trying to prove by a witness who knows the country, that it would be utterly absurd to talk about land transportation there. THE SPECIAL MASTER: I don't think that is the way to prove it. MR. FARNSWORTH: I take it the objection is sus-tained, and I note an exception. |
