Show 7085 Baldwin- C 5068 A I would rather navigate the river in high water than I would otherwise, after you got onto how top do it. Q During the high water just how do you operate your boats? A we would go as quick as we could at low water. Q On the return trip how would you operate? A All right; we didn't have any trouble. Q Where do you run the boats? A Run them on what we call the easy side of the river, the short side; seemed like the current would go out of the long side of the river; we would go over where the current wasn't so swift, where we would have eddies. Q When you would get over in the shallower portion of the river didn't you have some trouble there with the sandbars? A No, had very little in high water. Q In nearly all of your operations up stream you would stand away from the current, the fast water, as miuch as you could, wouldn't you? A Yes, we would take advantage of it wherever we could. Q When you got away from that is when you had your trouble with the sandbars? A More liable to run onto them then. Q Did these boats have any trouble making headway against |
